Privacy Policy

Collegator("we," "us") helps students research colleges, track deadlines, and get feedback on essays and resumes. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.

Information we collect

  • Account information: name, email, and login method (email/password or Google).
  • Academic profile information you provide: GPA, test scores, intended majors, school preferences, and similar details used for college and scholarship matching.
  • Optional background information: things like first-generation status, gender, race/ethnicity, citizenship status, and financial-need level. Every one of these questions can be skipped or answered "prefer not to say," and skipping is never treated as a "no." We use this to match you with scholarships that target those backgrounds, and in de-identified, aggregate form to understand who we serve (for example, what share of our students are first-generation). We never use it for advertising, never sell it, and never share it with mentors, schools, or anyone else in identifiable form.
  • Content you create: essays, resume entries, brag sheet answers, calendar tasks, and chat messages.
  • Payment information: handled directly by our payment processor, Stripe; we do not store your full card number.
  • Basic usage data (pages visited, actions taken — e.g. saving a scholarship or a new essay draft), recorded against your account so features like streaks and recommendations work, and studied in aggregate to understand how students move through the admissions process. It is never sold or shared for advertising. We use cookies only to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and — if you arrived through a link with campaign tags — remember which campaign brought you here. We don't use third-party advertising cookies.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the core features you sign up for: college matching, the smart calendar, scholarship search, essay/resume coaching, and the consultant marketplace.
  • Process subscription payments and marketplace transactions.
  • Notify you about things relevant to your profile, like a scholarship whose criteria you appear to meet or a deadline coming up. You can ignore these at any time; they're suggestions, not guarantees of eligibility.
  • Communicate with you about your account, deadlines, or changes to our services.
  • Improve and secure the platform.

We do not sell your personal information.

AI features

When you use the essay coach or resume builder, the relevant text you submit (essay drafts, activity descriptions) is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate feedback or drafted content. This content is processed to provide the feature you requested and is not used by us to train our own models.

Who we share information with

  • Supabase: our database and authentication provider, which stores your account and profile data.
  • Stripe: our payment processor, for subscriptions and marketplace payments.
  • Anthropic: processes essay/resume text you submit to AI features, as described above.
  • Resend: our email delivery provider, which processes your email address and the contents of emails we send you (like unread-message digests and deadline reminders).
  • Vercel: hosts the application and provides basic, aggregated analytics about page visits.
  • Consultants and tutors you choose to book: only the information needed for your session (e.g., your name and the topic you request) is shared with a consultant you book with. Mentors also write a short shared recap after each session, which you and our quality team can see.
  • Parents and teachers/counselors you invite: you choose section-by-section what a linked parent or teacher can see (college list, calendar, essay progress, and so on), and you can change or revoke that access anytime. They never see your chat messages or private notes.
  • Your school or district, if it covers your account: schools that purchase Collegator for their students can see roster-level participation and the sections individual students choose to share with their counselor — students keep the same section-by-section control.

Our staff may review chat messages, session recaps, and reports when someone reports a safety concern or as part of quality review — Collegator serves minors, and we look when something is flagged.

We don't share your information with anyone else without your consent, except where required by law.

Your choices

You can update or delete most of your profile information directly in the app. To request a full export or deletion of your account and associated data, contact us at the email below.

Minors and parental involvement

Collegatoris designed for high school students, many of whom are under 18. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission to use Collegator, particularly before entering payment information or booking sessions with consultants in the marketplace. Collegator is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly keep personal information from anyone under 13 — every account, including Google sign-ins, must provide a date of birth, under-13 signups are refused, and an under-13 answer on an already-created sign-in deletes that account and its data immediately. If you believe a child under13has created an account, contact us at the email below and we'll delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls) to protect your information, but no system is 100% secure. Please use a strong, unique password for your account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Collegatorevolves. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do.
